DANCE CLASS PLACEMENT GUIDES

Tiny Tots: Pre-Ballet Age 2-3yrs:
Tiny Tot classes are designed to give the young child a introduction into dance.  The class focus is on basic movement and motor skills, self-expression, vocabulary, and imagination.

Students:   Age 3-5 yrs:
All preschool classes are designed to introduce age appropriate coursework for the young dancer's physical, emotional, and social skills.  The class develops the basic elements of creative movement, tap, and ballet as well as vocabulary, and music.  Primary objectives are geared toward inspiration, self-expression, creativity, and imagination. Young children experience the love of learning through dance and music.

Students: Age 5-6 or 7-8 yr:         
Classes designed to develop the kindergarten through second grade student with age appropriate coursework developing elementary through intermediate skills in dance, choreography, vocabulary and musicality with stylized execution of the dance genre. The classroom focus will be on technique, self-expression, and performance within the joy of a disciplined yet fun and encouraging learning environment.

Beginner:
For the student with little or no dance experience, or no more than 1-2 years of preschool dance education.

Intermediate (Shining Stars/LaPetite):
For the student with 2 - 4 years of early dance education who has demonstrated proficiency in the basic skills and is ready to move on to a higher level of difficulty. *Permission of instructor is required.

Students:  Age 9-12:
Classes designed to develop the third through sixth grade student with age appropriate coursework developing elementary through intermediate skills in dance, choreography, vocabulary and musicality stylized execution of the dance genre. The classroom focus will be on technique, self-expression, and performance within the joy of a disciplined yet encouraging learning environment. Students will be advanced based on their demonstration of skills and their years of training.

Beginner:
For the student with little or no dance experience,or no more that 1-3 years of dance education.  For the student who has moved beyone the basics yet is not quite ready for full intermediate work or is learning a new style of dance.

Intermediate:
For the student with 2 - 4 years of early dance education who has demonstrated a high level of proficiency in the fundamental skills and is ready to move on to a higher level of difficulty in a familiar style. *Permission of instructor is required.

Adv/Int Future Stars: 
Classes designed to develop the sixth grade through college age student with coursework developing elementary through advanced skills in dance, choreography, vocabulary, and musicality with stylized execution of the dance genre. The class will develop technique, self-expression, strength, and the complexity of combinations and level of performance.  A respectful attitude, regular attendance, the ability to demonstrate skills at each level of advancement.
*Permission of instructor is required. Pre-requisites may be required.


We reserve the right to place students according to their age, ability level, and experience.
Personal evaluations are available.
